Well, they would get $1,000, but then there would be the cost buying the traps to actually kill the beavers.
Did fur trappers traded with Indians or people? Answer: Both! Fur trappers traded with Indians for necklaces, bracelets, and other things that Indian tribes make for traditions and such. Fur trappers also traded with people for money.
Chapter 2
How Did Fur Trappers Trap And Is It Dangerous?
1820's-1840's was the most popular time for trapping. In the 1820's beaver pelt hats and coats were very popular, so the fur trappers could make a lot of money off of fur trapping. There are a couple types of traps: the Conibear trap, the pole trap, and the steel jaw trap. Fur trappers trapped throughout Colorado in the lakes and ponds for beaver and across the land for wolves and foxes.
Fur trapping was pretty dangerous, mostly because of Indians. They saw the land as home, so when the Europeans came, the Indians saw them as intruders. If there was one fur trapper, the Indians would kill him. If there were multiple fur trappers there would be a battle and there would be loss on both sides.

When Did The Fur Trapping Start

So then beaver hats became really popular around 1820's-1840's so that was really the most popular time for fur trapping. Then the career really started to die down popular because of how the trend of beaver hats ended into silk hats. Now there are nearly no trappers left in the America.
